This 1981 Matra Murena 1.6 is a comprehensive, top-to-bottom restoration carried out under Carjoy’s direct care — engine and gearbox fully rebuilt and currently at zero kilometres, complete underbody Tectyl treatment, renewed brakes, new wheels and tyres, a fully overhauled cooling system, and a fresh respray in Platine Metallic. The interior is almost entirely original and in remarkably good condition for a car of this age. Just 104,751 km on the clock over 44 years. Engine, drivetrain & underbody
The 1.6 litre engine and gearbox have been completely rebuilt and stand at zero kilometres since the work was done — not a kilometre driven. The engine bay is immaculate, the cooling system fully renewed, and the electrics give no issues. Like every Murena, this car benefits from Matra’s galvanised steel chassis and glass-fibre body panels, making it largely immune to the corrosion that plagues most classics of this era. The underside has been cleaned, inspected and freshly Tectyl-treated. Brakes have been fully overhauled, and it rides on new wheels and tyres.
Exterior & interior
Fully resprayed in Platine Metallic — a solid, even, high-standard finish that suits the Murena’s lines well. Inside, the upholstery, dashboard, seats and trim are almost entirely original, in a condition that’s genuinely rare for a car this age, with the iconic three-seat layout fully intact. The boot lining will be renewed as a final finishing touch before sale.
